London college next stop for Iranian “Night Bus”

TEHRAN,Jan.20(MNA) -- The war-theme drama “The Night Bus” by Kiumars Purahmad will go on screen at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London. The screening of the film is a part of a monthly film screening program organized by the Centre for Iranian Studies of SOAS. “The Night Bus” is about an Iranian teenage combatant and a middle-aged soldier who are tasked to relocate a group of Iraqi prisoners of war by bus behind the front during the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war. Based on a short story by Habib Ahmadzadeh, the film will go on screen at the Khalili Lecture Theater of the college on December 12. Documentary “Live Wave” by Habib Ahmadzadeh on the downing of Iran Air Flight 655 by the U.S. Aegis missile cruiser Vincennes will be the next screening of the center for January 2012. The U.S. Navy guided missile cruiser USS Vincennes shot down Iran Air Flight 655 over the Persian Gulf on July 3, 1988, killing all 290 passengers and crew members, including 66 children. The SOAS is a public research university located in London, and a constituent college of the University of London. The Centre for Iranian Studies draws on the range of academic research and teaching across the disciplines of SOAS, including languages and literature, the study of religions, history, economics, politics, international relations, music, art and media and film studies.
