Low-income earner registration to start Monday

BANGKOK, April 2 (TNA) - The second round of low income earner registration for the government subsidies will be opened from tomorrow to April 15, said a government spokesman of the Prime Minister’s Office. The spokesman, Lieutenant General Sansern Kaewkamnerd said those, who registered in the previous round are required to re-register to ensure their profile data is updated. Eligible persons must be Thai citizens, aged over 18, either unemployed or earn less than 100,000 baht last year. They must meet other requirements such as those related to land ownership. The government spokesman said more than eight million low-income earners registered during the first round. About 7.7 million are qualified and about 97 per cent or more than 7.5 million people receive either 1,500 baht or 3,000 baht as a one-time subsidy for cost of living. The rest, who were not given the subsidies because did not have bank accounts or did not contact with bank officials. (TNA)
