MA Denies Request For Ruling On Authority Over Simulator Case

Jakarta, Oct 1 (ANTARA)- The Supreme Court (MA) had denied the request for a ruling on jurisdiction over the driving simulator corruption case made by suspect in the case Inspector General Djoko Susilo. "We would not give a ruling because only state institutions may ask for it," MA spokesman Djoko Sarwoko said when contacted by newsmen seeking confirmation over the issue here on Monday. He said his side had indeed received the request for the ruling signed by the suspect`s lawyers namely Juniver Girsang, Tommy Sihotang and Hotma Sitompul. "Because it was lawyers that made the request while the case is still being processed the request was not met," he said. Inspector General Djoko Susilo did not come to meet the summons for questioning by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) last Friday in connection with his alleged involvement in the corruption case linked to procurement of driving simulators at the traffic police citing his request for a ruling over the jurisdiction over the case from the MA. The police and KPK have clashed over authority to process the case. Djoko Susilo was the former chief of the National Traffic Police Corps. KPK spokesman Johan Budi meanwhile said that KPK would continue its investigation into the case. "Until today investigation with suspect DS is still continuing and will not be stopped until it is brought to court," he said.
