Maersk Oil Steps up Qatarization Efforts with New Phase of Recruitment Campaign

Doha, September 28 (QNA) - Maersk Oil Qatar is building on its successful Qatarization programme with the launch of the third-phase of its Find Your Place recruitment campaign aimed at attracting more Qataris to Maersk Oil. The latest Find Your Place campaign features more successful Qataris whose careers have flourished at the country’s largest oil producer. Since the launch a year ago of its revitalized Qatarization Strategy which focuses on targeted recruitment as well as tailored coaching and accelerated development for high achievers - Maersk Oil Qatar has seen an increase in the number and quality of Qatari job applicants, along with the promotion of several talented Qataris to leadership or senior specialist roles. The latest recruitment campaign will be fronted by production chemist Mr. Ali Ahmed Ghareeb, SAP business analyst Maryam Khalil and information security officer Tarek Mansour. The Find Your Place campaign includes newspaper and online advertising; editorial content and a grassroots drive on university campuses to appeal directly to young students. Lewis Affleck, Managing Director of Maersk Oil Qatar, said: "I’m delighted to launch our latest recruitment campaign. Over the past twenty-two years Maersk Oil Qatar has developed a unique level of experience in operating one of the world’s largest, most complex oilfield developments at Al Shaheen, offshore Qatar. The field will be just as important to Qatar in the coming decades that is why we are committed to maintaining the right blend of experience and expertise by attracting and developing the best and the brightest talent." Maersk Oil Qatar is focused on building leadership capacity in the country through coaching and development programmes for employees along with support for leadership programmes like EBDA, an experience-based student leadership scheme recently launched by Qatar University and Hamad bin Khalifa University. Sheikh Faisal bin Fahad Al-Thani, Maersk Oil Qatars Deputy Managing director, said: "We are passionate about developing quality leaders for the future, not just for Maersk Oil Qatar and our industry but for the State of Qatar. Our latest recruitment campaign, along with our broader Qatarization Strategy, highlights once again that Qatarization is a core business priority for us. Id encourage any talented Qatari that is interested in developing their career to join Maersk Oil." As part of Maersk Oils Qatarization Strategy, released late last year, the company committed itself to quadrupling the number of Qataris in leadership or senior specialist roles by 2017. Sheikh Jassim Al-Thani, Maersk Oil Qatars Head of Qatarization, said: "Our efforts have struck a chord with Qataris over the past year, but we are constantly seeking to improve and offer the very best training and development opportunities to employees through one-on-one career coaching and schemes like the Qatar Leadership Talent Pool where up and coming Qataris learn skills to propel their careers forward.(QNA)
