Mahakam Festival 2014 To Hold Open Boating Competition

Samarinda, E.Kalimantan, Sept 15 (Antara) - Open Power Boating Competition will be held during the Mahakam Festival 2014, on Mahakam River, Samarinda, East Kalimantan, Head of Samarinda City`s Culture and Tourism Office, H.M. Faisal, stated here on Monday. "The peak of the event will be on November 1 - 2, but a number of activities will be conducted on October 30," Faisal noted. He revealed that the Mahakam Festival 2014 will be organized at three different venues in Mahakam River, the Mahakam Riverside, and another location where exhibitions and musical shows will be held. The varied activities of Mahakam Festival that will be held in Mahakam River are the river crossing competition, power boating, Tambangan Boat Race in which a traditional boat is used for transportation, and Dragon Boat, and Jet Ski races. In the meantime, activities scheduled to be held in the Mahakam Riverside are Nusantara Cultural Parade, drum band carnival, creative dance competition, Indi Band Festival, Samarinda Pub Band Parade, cooking and traditional culinary competition, and drawing and coloring competition. The Mahakam Festival will also hold special programs such as Indonesian World Record Museum`s events, Mahakam Fun City Motor Rally, Mahakam Sunset, Mahakam Jazz Fiesta, Sape Festival and Student Clinic, Mahakam`s Small and Medium Enterprises Exhibition, and Batik and Muslim Fashion, among others.
