Malaysia Chosen To Host ICA Global Conference 2017

KUALA PILAH (Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia), July 27 (Bernama) -- The global body uniting, serving and representing co-operatives, International Co-operative Alliance (ICA), has chosen Malaysia to play host to the ICA Global Conference and General Assembly in Kuala Lumpur in 2017. Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Hasan Malek said the selection of Malaysia as the host for the biennial conference was indeed an honour and a recognition for the roles, performance and advancement of Malaysia's cooperative movement at the national, regional and international levels. "The decision to choose Malaysia was made by the ICA Board of Directors at their meeting in Buenos Aires, Argentina on July 24. Prior to the selection, Malaysia had to compete with Australia, New Zealand and Iran," he told reporters here Sunday. Hasan said the declaration of Malaysia as the host for ICA Global Conference 2017 would be made at this year's ICA Global Conference and General Assembly 2015 scheduled to be held from Nov 10 to 13 in Antalya, Turkey. For the record, the ICA represents 338 cooperatives federations and organisations across the world with members totalling 1.5 billion. --BERNAMA
