Malaysia Committed To Achieve 2030 Agenda For Sustainable Development - Foreign Minister Anifah

PUTRAJAYA, Nov 27 (Bernama) -- Malaysia is commited to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which will serve as a guide for the country's development in the next 15 years, says Foreign Minister Anifah Aman. In a statement when participating at the first session of the Pre-Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (Pre-CHOGM) in Malta, he said the Eleventh Malaysia Plan (2016-2020), mirrored the multi-dimensional nature of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda in many aspects. According to Malaysia's Foreign Ministry statement here Thursday, Anifah also concluded his statement by calling on all Commonwealth member states to commit to work together in ensuring the success of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The minister, who is leading Malaysia's delegation to the Pre-CHOGM meeting session on Nov 25 and 26, also urged the Commonwealth to have a unified and shared vision to address current and future challenges of ensuring inclusive development, not only across all segments of society, but also throughout the Commonwealth. CHOGM is a biennial meeting of heads of government from Commonwealth nations and is held in a different member state every two years. Malta, an island state in the Mediterranean Sea, is hosting the CHOGM for the second time for the 2015 edition, the first being in 2005. -- BERNAMA
