Malaysia Committed To Uphold, Empower Sunnah Wal Jamaah Teachings - Minister

PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), May 7 (Bernama) -- Malaysia is committed to uphold and empower the teachings of Sunnah Wal Jamaah as it brings stability between Muslims and non-Muslims in the country, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Jamil Khir Baharom said. He said the government, through the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) and other religious agencies under the Prime Minister's Department would also continue to explain about the teachings and criteria of the Sunnah Wal Jamaah. "Malaysia is truly grateful that the teachings of Sunnah Wal Jamaah has enabled the multi-racial society in the country to live in peace and harmony. "In fact, the concept of wasatiyyah is also part of the practices underlined in the Sunnah Wal Jamaah teachings," he said when opening the 2015 Malaysia World Muktamar of World Sunnah Wal Jamaah Ulama here Wednesday. The three-day Muktamar (Islamic conference) organised by Yayasan Perdana Ummah (Perdana Ummah Foundation) sees the participation of 25 ulama (religious scholars) from 15 countries. It is aimed to discuss issues of faith among Muslims and the misperception of Sunnah Wal Jamaah. --BERNAMA
