Malaysia Gets Two Korean Teachers For International Language Programme

PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), Sept 2 (Bernama) -- The Education Ministry of Malaysia will be placing one Korean language teacher each at Malaysia's boarding schools of Sekolah Sultan Alam Shah, Putrajaya and Sekolah Seri Puteri, Cyberjaya under its international language programme. Education director-general Dr Khair Mohamad Yusof said the attachment of two Korean language teachers was made possible under the auspices of the Korean Government-Sponsored Volunteer Teachers programme for 11 months starting Sept 1. "Should the short programme be successful, the ministry is prepared to consider offering Korean language as an international language at selected schools," he said when met at the launching of the programme, here, Wednesday. Present at the ceremony to introduce the two women teachers, Kim Myungsuk and Kim Hanna, was the South Korean ambassador to Malaysia, Cho Byungjae. Khair said the programme was also in line with the aspiration of the second shift of the Malaysian Education Blueprint 2013-2025 in transforming the education system to ensure each student masters Bahasa Malaysia (Malay language) and English as well as an additional language. --BERNAMA
