Malaysia: No Indication Of Bird Flu Outbreak Or Chicken Disease In Sabah

KOTA KINABALU (Sabah, Malaysia), July 12 (Bernama) — There is no indication of an outbreak in bird flu or chicken disease in Sabah as circulated through WhatsApp. Sabah is a state of Malaysia located on the northern portion of Borneo Island. State Ministry of Agriculture, in a statement tonight, said so far Sabah Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) had detected only one farm in Tamparuli that showed an increase in mortality rate. “It is believed that the increase in mortality is due to weather changes as the farm is a conventional open house type which is subject to inclement weather,” the statement said. The ministry said DVS would do further test to ascertain if there was any disease outbreak. For the moment it was still safe to consume properly prepared and cooked chicken and there was no sign or indication that it was dangerous, it added . -- BERNAMA
