Malaysian armed forces chief visits Thailand

BANGKOK, June 4 (TNA) - Malaysia's Chief of Armed Forces General Tan Sri Zulkifeli bin Mohhd Zin is paying a two-day visit to Thailand from June 3-4, as the guest of the Royal Thai Armed Forces, aimed to strengthen military relations between the two neighboring countries. General Zulkifeli, who arrived in Thailand on Tuesday, was welcomed by Thai Army and National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) Chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha at the Royal Thai Army Headquarters in Bangkok on Wednesday. General Zulkifeli’s visit demonstrates Malaysia’s continued close ties with Thailand, especially between the armed forces of the two neighboring countries. Thailand has maintained military ties with other allied countries, after the NCPO staged a coup on May 22, 2014, although some countries have introduced measures against the coup, including the United States and Australia.(TNA)
