Malaysian King and Queen arrive in Thailand Sept 2

BANGKOK, September 2 (TNA) - The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah, and the Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tuanku Hajah Haminah, or Their Majesties the King and Queen of Malaysia are scheduled to arrive in Bangkok on Monday for their state visit to the Thai Kingdom from September 2-5. Malaysian Ambassador to Thailand Dato' Nazirah Hussain, in a short interview with Thai News Agency (TNA), on Sunday confirmed the state visit to Thailand by Their Majesties the King and Queen of Malaysia, reflecting sound relations between the two neighbouring countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The ambassador acknowledged that, during their stay in Thailand, the Malaysian King and Queen will have an audience with His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit in seaside resort Hua-Hin District of Prachuap Khiri Khan province. Thailand's Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, Cabinet members and top parliamentarians will also be granted an audience with Their Majesties the King and Queen of Malaysia. Besides, the Malaysian King and Queen will visit the Grand Palace in Bangkok. The Malaysian top envoy emphasized that Thailand and Malaysia have had strong and steadily-developed bilateral relations, which will be further enhanced by this week's state visit to Thailand by Their Majesties the King and Queen of Malaysia. The ambassador also foresaw further cooperation between the two ASEAN neighbours in several sectors, including, Halal food production, tourism and education. (TNA)
