Malaysian Railway KTM To Introduce Service From JB Sentral To Hat Yai Starting Sept 1

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 28 (Bernama) -- The main rail operator in Peninsular Malaysia, Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) Berhad through the KTM Intercity will introduce the Peninsular Express Train service from Johor Bahru Sentral (in Malaysian southern state of Johor) to Hat Yai, Thailand starting Sept 1. Before the new addition, KTM was also serving the KL Sentral to Hat Yai sector. KTM in a statement said the service offered would involve two ticket prices, US$19 (RM82) (sleeping coach) and US$16 (RM70) (seats). (US$1 = RM4.20) "The Peninsular Express Train will pass through all 34 stations, except Bukit Mertajam and Butterworth (Malaysian Penang state cities)," said the statement. The KTM has already introduced the Electric Tran Service (ETS) from Kuala Lumpur (KL) Sentral to Butterworth at RM59. "ETS leaves Butterworth at 7am and arrives in KL at 10.50 while another service starts from KL Sentral at 8pm and reaches Butterworth at 11.55pm," said the statement.
