Malaysian Senate Hall Receives Courtesy Call From Five French Senators

KUALA LUMPUR, April 24 (Bernama) -- Dewan Negara (Malaysian Senate Hall) President Abu Zahar Ujang on Friday received a courtesy call from five French senators at his office at the Parliament House here Friday. They are Gerard Miquel, Bernard Saugey, Marie-Helene Des Esgaulx, Simon Sutour and Philippe Brault from the France-South-East Asia Friendship Group of the Senate. Also present were French Ambassador to Malaysia Christophe Penot. Speaking to Bernama after the courtesy call, Abu Zahar said it was aimed at improving the bilateral ties between the two countries in trade, education and tourism sectors. He said France also expressed intention to enhance cooperation with Malaysia in the palm oil industry. "They have also visited the MPOB (Malaysian Palm Oil Board), which exports value to France had increased by 20 per cent (last year)," he said. Abu Zahar said they also exchanged views and opinions on how to prevent spread of IS militant influence and activities, especially in social media. --BERNAMA
