Malaysians In Yemen To Be Evacuated As Soon As Possible

PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), March 30 (Bernama) -- Malaysian citizens in Yemen affected by coalition airstrikes led by Saudi Arabia on the country will be evacuated as soon as possible. In a statement Saturday, the foreign ministry said the ministry, National Security Council and defence ministry, together with the Malaysian Embassy in Sana'a were working closely in coordinating the exercise, as well as continuing to monitor the situation in the country. "As the current situation in Yemen remains fluid, the ministry wishes to advise all Malaysians to avoid or postpone unnecessary travel to Yemen," it said. Malaysians in Yemen are advised to register themselves with the Malaysian Embassy located at Iran Street, Hadda. The public also can contact Wisma Putra at (006) 03-88874300, 88874265 during office hours and at (006) 03-88874570 for further information and updates pertaining to the situation in Yemen. The media reported that a coalition led by Saudi Arabia has launched air strikes against Houthi rebels in the capital of Yemen as civil conflict in the poor yet strategic Gulf state threatens to escalate into a regional war. -- BERNAMA
