Malaysia's King, Queen Leave For State Visit To China

SEPANG (Selangor, Malaysia), Sept 3 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's King Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah and Queen Tuanku Hajah Haminah left Wednesday for a three-day state visit to China. The special aircraft carrying Their Majesties took off from the KL International Airport (KLIA) at 10.20 am. Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and his wife Norainee Abdul Rahman, Dewan Negara (Senate Hall) President Abu Zahar Ujang, Chief of Defence Forces Gen Zulkifeli Mohd Zin and several foreign diplomats were at the Bunga Raya Complex of the airport to bid farewell to Their Majesties. Tuanku Abdul Halim inspected a guard-of-honour comprising four officers and 103 personnel of the 1st Battalion Royal Malay Regiment. A 21-gun salute was fired and the national anthem, Negaraku, was played. Federal Territories Mufti Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Albakri recited the doa (prayer). Their Majesties' visit is to reciprocate a state visit of President Xi Jinping of China and his wife Peng Liyuan to Malaysia last October in conjunction with the 40 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China.
