Maliki Welcomes The developments In The Relations Between Turkey and Iraq, Calls For a Fixed and Stable Relations Between The Two Countries

BAGHDAD / NINA / Iraqi Prime Minister, Nuri al - Maliki welcomed the developments at the level of relations between Iraq and Turkey, calling for fixed and stable bilateral relations between the two countries. Maliki said, during the meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister, Ahmed Davutoglu, "Iraq wants good relations based on common interests, mutual respect and non-interference in the internal affairs with all countries of the world, especially neighboring countries." Maliki added: "The conditions of the region require cooperation, consultation and establish strong and solid bilateral relations base on cooperation in the region," according to a statement his office. Maliki welcomed the developments at the level of bilateral relations, saying that the two peoples have received these positive developments, calling for stable bilateral relations between Iraq and Turkey. He continued: "We want relations between two equal States founded on solid and durable so that they remain continuously with changing officials and governments in the two States." He explained: "There are too wide prospects for cooperation and coordination and we have the ability to move together in this way, especially in the field of counter-terrorism and establish security and stability," stressing that Iraq adopts a careful policy in the region away from the tension and emotion. For his part, Oglu stressed the need for cooperation and coordination between the two countries at all levels, particularly with regard to the ongoing developments in the region, calling for activating the work of the joint committees between the two countries as a prelude to al-Maliki's upcoming visit to Turkey. He condemned the terrorist acts in Iraq, saying that any attack on Iraq is an attack on Turkey, adding that Turkey is ready to cooperate and coordinate with Iraq, even at the intelligence level, according to the statement. He added, "Iraq and Turkey stand against inciting sectarian strife in the region," calling for wider regional cooperation in this area, and stressed the need to double the bilateral consultation with regard to developments in the region particularly the Syrian crisis . / End
