Man in Fukuoka Pref. to Be Tested for Ebola

Tokyo, May 18 (Jiji Press)--A man in his 40s in Fukuoka Prefecture, southwestern Japan, will be tested for Ebola as he has developed a fever after returning from Guinea recently, the Japanese health ministry said Monday. His blood samples will be sent to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases' Murayama branch in a western suburb of Tokyo. The test result will be available on Monday evening. According to the ministry, he did not have contact with Ebola patients while in Guinea, which has been hit hard by the deadly disease. The man stayed in the West African country for work for about one month from early April and returned home on May 9. At 3 a.m. on Monday, he had a fever of 38.6 degrees Celsius, and a back pain and headache. He has tested negative for influenza and malaria through a simple examination. END
