Mandarin tour guide club files complaint against illegal guides

BANGKOK, June 9 (TNA) - The Mandarin Tour Guide Club of Thailand has filed a complaint with Chief of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) General Prayuth Chan O-cha, asking for a solution to the problem of illegal tour guides in the country. The club's vice president, Seangthong Pailinvijit, led over 300 Mandarin tour guides to submit the written complaint to the coup council's chief, through head of the Royal Thai Army's Support Unit Lieutenant Colonel Permkiat Jutathet, on Monday morning. Saengthong said the illegal tour guides were given support by some government officials or politicians to impersonate as licensed Thai guides, leading to scams against international tourists in Thailand. According to the club's vice president, the problem has also led to transnational crime and alleged sub-standard Thai tourism, while also affecting legally-licensed Thai guides for the past decade in terms of a drop in their clients.
