Many countries offer help to investigate into Ratchaprasong bombing

BANGKOK, August 21 (TNA) -- National Police chief Police General Somyot Poompanmoung said that many countries have offered to help investigate the Erawan shrine bombing with advanced equipment, hoping to better identify suspects. He said that his subordinates were coordinating the assistances with those countries and that information from foreign intelligence agencies ruled out the possibility that international terrorists were active in Thailand. Police General Somyot also said that the police increased the bounty for the arrest of the bomber to 3 million baht. Police questioned more than 300 witnesses including two men in white and red shirts appeared on CCTV footages who denied they had anything to do with the bombing. The police chief blamed some news agencies for exposing witnesses, saying that such news coverage could be dangerous to witnesses and discourage other witnesses from meeting interrogators. (TNA)
