Mapim Targets 50,000 Muslims To Attend Al-Quds Day Rally On July 10

KUALA LUMPUR, July 3 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisation (Mapim) has targetted 50,000 Muslims to attend the peaceful rally on July 10 to commemorate the Al-Quds Day. Mapim president Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid (three left) said the gathering, to be held simultaneously at the National Mosque and several state mosques after the Friday prayer on the said date, would also be joined by 20 non-governmental organisations. "Muslims around the world have agreed to hold the Al-Quds Day rally annually on the last Friday of Ramadan in protest against Israeli aggression towards people in Al-Quds (Jerusalem)," he told Bernama here Friday. Mohd Azmi also called on the public to pledge their support for the liberation of Al-Quds by taking a 'selfie' and post it on their social networking sites using the hashtag #Selfie4AlQuds. "We aim to see a million selfies to support our cause to issue a memorandum of protest against Israel's brutal assault on Palestinians to the United Nations," he said. (photoBERNAMA) -- BERNAMA
