March 31 dateline maintained for registration of migrant workers in Thailand

BANGKOK, March 26 (TNA) - The Thai government has maintained its March 31 dateline for the legal registration of migrant workers from neighboring Cambodia, Lao PDR and Myanmar with several one stop service centers (OSSCs) now opened around the clock to speed up the work during this last days. Thai Government Spokesman Lieutenant General Sansern Kaewkamnerd told journalists of the update, saying that the 24-hour OSSCs, under the Ministry of Labour, have been opened during this last week in areas where there are a number of migrant workers from the three neighboring countries, including Bangkok's head office of the Ministry of Labour in Din Daeng area. Besides, the online registration service at the Ministry of Labour's official website, [www.doe.go.th], has been launched during March 26-31, along with more registration channels launched at employment offices in Bangkok and provincial areas nationwide. The spokesman stated that there are also OSSCs opened daily in Bangkok during 8am-10pm, including those at Petchkasam 65, the IT Square Building and Tang Hua Seng Thonburi Shopping Mall. The spokesman quoted Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha as calling for the remaining 959,571 migrant workers from the three neighboring countries who have not yet turned out for this year's registration, out of a total of 1,687,473, to timely report and legally register themselves either for their first-time stay or their extended-stay in the Thai Kingdom within the March 31 dateline at the number of facilities opened to serve them by the Ministry of Labour.
