Maryland State Senator responds to US Azeris` campaign on Khojaly genocide

Baku, February 21 (AzerTAc). Maryland State Senator Brian Frosh has responded to US Azeris` campaign on the Khojaly genocide. “Sadly, we see throughout history to the present day the kinds of cruelty you described visited upon innocent civilians”, said the Senator in his letter to the Diaspora members. The campaigners sent letters to U.S. legislators, saying a grave crime was committed against innocent Azerbaijani civilians by the Armenian army, on Feb 26, 1992. On that day, the Armenian government`s efforts to rid Nagorno Karabakh of its ethnically Azerbaijani population resulted in this genocidal act, death, wounding and hostage-taking of innocent civilians, mostly women, children and elderly. The Diaspora members called senators to recognize and commemorate this war crime and genocidal act on the floor of the legislature, in the legislative record, in a form of a commemorative resolution and/or by attending a vigil. Senator Frosh noted he would certainly remember Diaspora members` message on February 26.
