Mashhad To Host 11th TELLSI Intl Confab

Mashhad, Razavi Khorassan Prov., Oct 27, IRNA -- The 11th TELLSI International Conference will be held in Mashhad from October 30 to November 1, 2013. Secretary of the TELLSI (Teaching English Language and Literature Society of Iran) Conference, Dr. Khalil Motallebzadeh, told IRNA that the conference theme would be Professional Development in Language Teacher Education (PDLTE). The plenary speakers would be Jeremy Harmer, the New School University, USA, Suresh Canagarajah, Pennsylvania State University, USA, Hossein Farhady, Iran University of Science and Technology, Iran, and Ramin Akbari, Tarbiat Modares University, Iran. The featured speakers would be Susan Marandi, Al-Zahra University, Iran, Golam-Reza Kiany, Tarbiat Modares University, Iran, Mohammad Reza Hashemi, Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Iran, Mojgan Rashtchi, Islamic Azad University, Iran, Reza Ghafar Samar, Tarbiat Modares University, Iran and Seyyed Ayatollah Razmjoo, Shiraz University, Iran. The papers, to be presented to the meeting, concern topics on teacher education, including Teacher Education & Global Cooperation, global (global and local) Learning & Teaching, English & teacher education, educating teachers of English literature, educating teachers of English translation, classroom management & practice, teacher training in Islamic context, in-service training & development, couching, monitoring & team teaching, teacher identity & code of ethics, teacher support groups & resources,teachers & their educators: standards for development and models for teacher education. The topics also cover teacher evaluation, revolving around subjects such as teacher evaluation & development, challenges of teacher evaluation in Iran, quality assurance in teacher training centers, developing code of ethics for language teachers, standards & frameworks for teacher evaluation, assessing teaching & improving learning, research innovation as a tool of teacher education & leadership. The papers are also about ICT in teacher development, focusing on language teacher education in digital age, CALL & teacher education, web-based teacher education, effective teaching through technology, digital language teachers & learners, digital collaboration tools for teacher education (wiki, moo, forum, moodle, mailing list,..). Among other subjects are reflection on teacher education regarding language teacher education in digital age, professional development through teachers associations, affective approaches to teacher education, critical pedagogy in teacher education, teacher education in public & private sectors, teacher empowerment, teachers as learners, teachers and creativity, learners & teachers styles interaction, culture in teacher education, strategic teachers & students voices, self and peer observations, teaching portfolios and classroom & action research Some 600 scholars will take part in the meeting, 35 of whom coming from the US and the UK. Some 1,100 articles have been sent to the Secretariat, 245 of which to be in the form of oral presentation and 40 in the form of poster presentation./end
