Masisi's Working Visit To Further Strengthens Existing Bilateral Ties

KUALA LUMPUR, April 6 (Bernama) -- The working visit of the Vice President of the Republic of Botswana, Mokgweetsi Eric Masisi to Malaysia Tuesday will serve as a testament of both countries' aspiration to further strengthen the existing bilateral relations. Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement Monday said the visit would also strengthened trade relations especially in the areas of trade, investment and education. "Both countries are expected to discuss regional and international issues of mutual concern and Botswana is also keen to learn from Malaysia's transformation programme," the statement said. During the visit, Masisi is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and also have a meeting with Minster in the Prime Minister's Department Idris Jala. Masisi is also scheduled to attend a briefing by the Performance Management and Delivery Unit (Pemanda), visit a Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) site and a briefing session with Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp). According to the statement, the total bilateral trade between both countries stood at US$1.77 million (RM6.45 million) last year and trade items comprised mainly machinery appliances and parts, chemicals and chemical products, paper and pulp products. During his visit from April 7 to 11, he will be accompanied by Minister of Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, High Commissioner of Botswana in Beijing, China Eric Molale and other senior officials. -- BERNAMA
