Masum, Kubiš Discuss Displaced File, Construction And The War Against Terrorism

BAGHDAD / NINA / President Fuad Masum discussed with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Jan Kubiš the displaced file, reconstruction and the war against terrorism. A presidential statement said, "Masum received today, at his office in Baghdad, Kubiš and discussed with him, the most important political and security developments in the country and ways to ease the sensitivities in the scene, as well as the international community's efforts to support Iraq with respect to the displaced file, reconstruction and the war against terrorism." Masum pointed to "the importance of efforts by the United Nations efforts to help Iraq on the political and humanitarian levels and in building state institutions and develop them." For his part, Jan Kubiš renewed UN interest to Iraq," stressing its readiness to support the Iraqis at all levels." He stressed "the need for concerted efforts to reduce the existing tensions and work to resolve the problems that beset the political process and democracy in Iraq". / end
