Masum Reviews With Ki-moon Political Measures And Agreements Between The Political Parties In Iraq

BAGHDAD / NINA / Iraqi President Fuad Masum reviewed with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon political actions and agreements between the political parties and the promotion of joint work between the three presidencies as fundamental procedural steps in strengthening the internal front. A presidential statement said that "Masum, during his meeting with Ki-moon at United Nations Headquarters in New York attended by Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari, appealed the world through the International Organization for cooperation with Iraq in its quest to overcome the crisis of displaced people on both humanitarian and security, so as to ensure the return of those people to their towns and regions and to get rid of the Islamic State, which poses as a real threat to Iraq, the region and the world. Masum thanked, "United Nations Secretary General for his continued support for the political process in Iraq, praising the role of the international organization and its representative in Baghdad. In turn, Ki-moon expressed confidence that the steps that have been completed are important and essential steps towards political stability in Iraq and to confront and defeat (IS), congratulating Masum on the occasion of his election as President of the Republic, and the formation of the government at this important stage in the history of Iraq. He pointed to "the international solidarity with Iraq and the great quest of a lot of countries to participate with the international effort to supporting Iraq humanly, politically and militarily in the war on terrorism. He also expressed his hope for progress and prosperity and promote national unity in Iraq and to access procedures for the process to resolve outstanding problems./ End
