Matsuyama University Prof. Had Students Make MDMA

Matsuyama, Ehime Pref., April 17 (Jiji Press)--Matsuyama University Prof. Tatsunori Iwamura had students produce synthetic drug MDMA without a license, the western Japan university has said. Papers on Iwamura were sent to the narcotics control department of the Shikoku Regional Bureau of Health and Welfare on suspicion of violating the antidrug law, the university said Tuesday. Similar action was taken for an associate professor and four former students. According to the university, Iwamura, a member of the faculty of pharmaceutical sciences, had the associate professor and two then students produce synthetic drugs MDA and MDMA in class between 2011 and 2013 without a narcotics researcher's license. Between 2016 and 2017, Iwamura made the associate professor and two other then students produce the drugs and possessed them. Iwamura did not disclose his motive. But he admitted that he had recognized the illegality of the production of such drugs. The associate professor thought Iwamura had the license, while the former students did not know that such a license was necessary, according to the university. END
