MCOT to enhance potential of local radio stations

BANGKOK, September 28 (TNA) - MCOT Public Company Limited (MCOT), a most established Thai media firm running TV Channel MCOT HD, MCOT Radio Networks and Thai News Agency (TNA), has agreed to join forces with the Chorsaard Association to enhance the potential of over 400 local radio stations nationwide through the development of their broadcast systems. MCOT President Kematat Paladesh and Chorsaard Association President Suton Klakarnkhai signed an agreement on the cooperation, the first of its kind in Thailand, at the MCOT head office in Bangkok on Friday. Under the initial two-year agreement, MCOT will share its experiences in the development of the digital system management, utilized for all areas of radio broadcast services, with the Chorsaard Association in order to enhance the latter's potential and efficiency in its operations in the long run. Besides, MCOT will help develop the potential of licensed radio broadcasters, being within the Chorsaard Association's networks and approved by the Office of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), who test run the radio broadcast services. The agreement also covers both sides' cooperation on disseminating news reports and information on social activities and benefits through their radio networks. According to the MCOT president, MCOT's 53 radio stations nationwide represent the most in Thailand, all are equipped with high quality and advanced technological systems for broadcast services, including those on the prevention of the unauthorized inbound and outbound disruption of radio signals and waves, and on standard tests of radio broadcast transmitting mechanisms, which will be shared with the Chorsaard Association's networks. The Chorsaard Association president said, meanwhile, that the cooperation with MCOT will be in the forms of seminars and workshops organized for licensed radio broadcasters who are under his association's networks over the next two years, or more if the period of the agreement is later extended.
