MCOT launches Thailand's first radio station for senior citizens

BANGKOK, July 23 (TNA) -- Thailand's MCOT Public Company Limited or MCOT has launched the country's first radio station for senior citizens, the 'Like Station Radio Online 1494', in support of the aging society. Director of FM96.5 radio station at MCOT Ms Thitirat Poonsirichaikij presided over the official opening of Thailand's first senior radio station, which is set to be broadcast via the AM1494 radio channel with the name, Like Station Radio Online 1494. The radio station has been in operations since January of 2016 run by FM96.5 in collaboration with Thailand's first free magazine for the elderly, O-lunla. The radio station has been created in support of the aging society, as most of the world communities are also heading into a community dominated by senior citizens, with an aim to encourage the elderly to relay their knowledge and shared their experiences to the rest of the society. Many renowned celebrities from various fields are also scheduled to take turns entertaining the listeners, including the National Artists and singers Chinnakorn Krailas and Suthep Wongkhamhaeng, both of whom would host the programme every Saturdays and Sundays from 7.30-10.00am.
