MDPS Releases New Edition of "Qatar; Monthly Statistics" Bulletin

Doha, June 30 (QNA) - The Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics (MDPS) has released the 29th edition of (Qatar; Monthly Statistics) which is released on a monthly basis to highlight detailed statistics on State of Qatar recorded during the period May 2016 in addition to glance from 2015 census. The most-highlighted statistical variable in this edition is the marine movements for commercial vessels in "Hamad Port" where it recorded 145 movements in May 2016, while it recorded 36 movements during last April. The demographic statistics within bulletin shows that Qatar's population has reached 2,588 million in May 2016, an annual increase of 8.96% as the population attained 2,375 million in May 2015, with total of 2,176 births during May 2016 and total of 217 deaths during the same period. Traffic violations accounted for 142,215 in May 2016, with a negative monthly change amounting to 4.67% compared to last April. The bulletin also highlights the number of vehicles registered in May 2016 which was recorded to be 7,536 compared to 7,563 during April 2016, with a monthly decrease amounting to 23.52%. Total broad money supply (M2) recorded about 497 Billion Riyals during the month of May 2016 showing a marginal monthly increase of 0.1 % compared to April 2016. On the other hand, cash equivalents; includes deposits increased by 1.72 % during May 2016 in comparison with April 2016, as it recorded about 683 Billion Riyals during May 2016.
