Qatari Culture Minister Meets UNDP Director New York, October 22 (QNA) - Qatari Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage HE Dr. Hamad Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, who is also President of UNCTAD XIII met here this evening with Director of United Nations Developments Programme (UNDP) Helen Clark at UNDP headquarters. HE the Minister of culture gave a briefing on the role of culture in development, referring to the annual cultural initiative between the State of Qatar and the States of the world and their positive impact on the overall level of development and infrastructure projects in the areas of culture, arts and heritage. For her part, the UNDP Director expressed her appreciation of Qatar's leading and effective contribution to raising the level of development in Gaza, Darfur and many regions of the world and its interest in energy and sustainable development. She also praised the efforts by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development who is also Chairperson of the Education Above All (EAA), for her humanitarian role in the world, through the Education Above All (EAA) programme, considering that as a major humanitarian contribution and exceptional initiative by Her Highness to empowerment for development projects and issues of economic, social and cultural rights through international areas in several regions of the world. She praised the role of the State of Qatar in supporting humanitarian heritage and its leadership in this field with the support of the wise leadership, stressing the importance of the relationship between the State of Qatar and the United Nations development programme (UNDP).(QNA)
