Meeting of Standing Technical Committee of GCC Civil Retirement Kicks Off

Doha, May 30 (QNA) - The 37th meeting of the Standing Technical Committee of the GCC Civil Retirement and Social Security kicked off in Doha Monday. The State of Qatar is hosting the meeting represented by the General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority (GRSIA). The two-day meeting will review the progress of applying insurance protection extension system for GCC nationals in addition to several issues and topics on its agenda, topped by latest developments of qualifying trainers who is specialized in retirement issues. The meeting will also discuss the joint programmes and projects and exchanging successful experiences and expertise. Director of Contributors Department in GRSIA Ali Al Kuwari stressed the keenness of the GCC retirement authorities to provide all means for decent livelihoods for its members, hailing the continued cooperation and coordination among them to achieve this desired objective. He added that the meeting is part of regular meetings of the Committee to review pension procedures and follow up the progress of the application of modern insurance systems. He thanked members of the Committee, representatives of the retirement and social insurance in GCC countries, for accepting the invitation, noting that the GRSIA is keen to host such meetings on regular basis in order to promote joint cooperation and GCC relations. During the meeting's first day, the participants discussed the minutes of the 36th meeting of the Committee, and the implementation of the decisions issued at the 15th meeting of the GCC heads of civil retirement and social security in Doha last October.
