Melaka State Buildings To Comply With International Green Standards

MELAKA (Malaysia), Oct 2 (Bernama) -- Melaka state government will be upgrading nine state and government subsidiary buildings to comply with international green standards with an allocation of US$9.21 million (RM30 million) next year. Among the buildings to be upgraded are Seri Negeri, Melaka Historic City Council, Graha Maju, Melaka Sentral and Malacca State Development Corporation. Melaka Chief Minister Idris Haron (right in picture) said the move was in line with the state's commitment in promoting green technology, besides reducing electricity consumption and expenses to be borne by the government. "The upgrading works would be done in stages with the allocation received from the Danish government through the Danish Climate Investment Fund," he said after opening the Seri Negeri Clinic here, Thursday. For instance, he said, the Seri Negeri building which is the state administrative centre would be upgraded with a district cooling system replacing the air conditioning system. Idris further said that all buildings would have retention ponds and water reservoirs to collect water for washing, cleaning and watering plants. In another development, Idris said the establishment of the Seri Negeri Clinic in the Chief Minister's Building here, was to provide medical service to about 400 state government employees in the building. He said the clinic would be administered by a medical assistant and a nurse to attend to emergency cases and treat mild ailments such as fever, diarrhea and abdominal pain from 8am to 1pm on Monday to Thursday and 8am to 12.15 pm on Friday.(photoBernama) -- BERNAMA
