Member Of International Drug Syndicate Shot Dead In N Sumatra

MEDAN, N Sumatra, Aug 23 (Antara) - The police in North Sumatra province have shot dead a member of the international drug syndicate, who tried to circulate crystal meth from Malaysia. During the raid, the police also arrested three other members of the syndicate, spokesperson of the North Sumatra Provincial Police Senior Commissioner Rina Sari Ginting said here, Monday. The 40-year-old member of the drug syndicate, identified by his initials as TMY from Blang village in North Aceh district, was shot dead as he resisted arrest, she revealed. Three other members of the syndicate were identified by their initials as AS (23) from Kandang village, North Aceh district, RR Alias C (26) from Teunpok Tyungoh village, North Aceh district and RMH Alias J (47) from Medan city. Rina Sari mentioned that the police shot dead a member of the drug syndicate and arrested three other members after receiving a tip-off from the public. Following the tip-off, the police set up a team led by chief of the sub-directorate of the provincial police's drug crime investigation directorate Adjunct Senior Commissioner Leo Siagian to investigate the drug syndicate. One of the police officers who pretended to be a drug user met TMY at a hotel on Gatot Subroto street in Medan, Saturday (Aug 20), to buy crystal meth. During the meeting, TMY agreed to deliver crystal meth the following day. Seeing RR and AS bringing crystal meth, the police arrested them later.
