MFA believes in Thai government's successful solution to alleged human trafficking issues

BANGKOK, March 13 (TNA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says the Thai government is believed to successfully address alleged human trafficking issues, after their solution has been added on national agenda. Thai Deputy Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai told a press conference on Thursday that several sectors in the country have realised human trafficking issues as the national agenda; so, the issues should be eliminated in the near future. Don noted that the Thai government has received good cooperation from the private sector, including non-governmental organisations (NGOs), on attempted solution to the issues and the interim administration plans to submit its last report to Washington on the country's progress in solution to the alleged issues on March 31, 2015, after submitting its annual Trafficking In Persons (TIP) Report to the US government on January 31. Besides, misunderstanding has been settled down, after the report has been sent to concerned countries, except the European Union (EU) due to some obstacles, causing some NGOs to mistakenly quote a previous report on alleged human trafficking in Thailand, which resulted in EU's misunderstanding earlier. Washington downgraded Thailand and placed the country on the lowest Tier 3 Watch List on its TIP Report in 2014, charging the Kingdom of failure in eliminating human trafficking-related problems. The deputy foreign minister expressed his optimism that Thailand’s ranking by the US government will improve due to cooperation on addressing the issues from every sector in the country. (TNA)
