MFA:No Thais are stranded in Japan's quakes-hit areas

BANGKOK, April 19 (TNA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that there are now no more reports of Thai nationals stranded in Japan's quakes-hit areas, as all of them have been assisted to leave the affected zones by a team dispatched from the Thai Embassy in Tokyo. Thai Foreign Ministry Spokesman Sek Wannamethee told journalists of the update on April 18, after his ministry's internal meeting in Bangkok to evaluate the situation and follow up on the progress of assisting operations provided to Thais affected by the recent tremors on Japan's southern Kyushu Island. Primarily, the spokesman said, the Thai Embassy in Tokyo has been given full cooperation from Thai Airways International (THAI), the national flag carrier, to provide air tickets on budget to affected Thai tourists and students who want to return home. In case of foreigners, the spokesman stated, the Thai Embassy to Japan has helped evacuate them to airports to fly home since April 17. (TNA)
