BANGKOK, March 26 (TNA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports that there were no Thai passengers on board a Germanwings flight which crashed in France earlier this week. Thai Foreign Ministry Spokesman Sek Wannamethee, who is also the ministry's Director-General of the Department of Information, told journalists on Thursday that his ministry has contacted Germanwings, a subsidiary budget airline of Germany-based Lufthansa Airlines, and other concerned agencies after the ill-fated Germanwings plane, Flight 4U9525, crashed in Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, southern France, located between Digne-les-Bains and Barcelonnette, on March 24. Sek said the Thai Embassies to Germany and France have informed that there were no reports on any Thai national on board the crashed Airbus A320 aircraft. The spokesman acknowledged that the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs will, however, continue following updates of the incident closely. According to the spokesman, Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister General Tanasak Patimapragorn have extended their condolences on the tragedy, in which about 150 passengers and crew members on board the ill-fated flight were all killed, most of them are German nationals.
