Miladinov Calls For Immediate Action To Prevent A Potential Massacre Of The People In Amerli

BAGHDAD / NINA / The Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Nikolai Miladinov assured that the situation of the residents in Amerli is desperate and requires immediate action to prevent a potential massacre to its citizens. Miladinov in a statement for the UN mission in Iraq / UNAMI / today expressed "his dismay about the reports concerning the inhumane conditions of the people of besieged Amerli town and cut off supplies of food and water by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) for nearly two months. He urged "the Iraqi government to do everything in its power to ease the blockade and ensure that people's lives receive rescuer and saving humanitarian assistance or evacuation in a dignified manner, stressing that the people are living in miserable conditions. Miladinov added: Iraq's allies and the international community should work with the authorities to prevent the tragedy of human rights.
