Miladinov Urges Iraqi MPs To Attend The First Session of the New Parliament

BAGHDAD / NINA/ The Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Nikolai Miladinov called for representatives of the political blocs to attend the first session of parliament on next Tuesday. He said in a statement today that "the members of the new parliament should attend and start practicing their constitutional task and work to allay political, security, social and humanitarian fears of all communities in Iraq." Miladinov added that "the first and the most important step that should be taken at the next meeting is to elect a speaker and his two deputies, and once they do that, the Parliament should elect president and approve the new government as stipulated in the Constitution.". He added that any delay in this process, due to a lack of quorum, will be harmful to the future of the country, which faces a national crisis and the Iraqi political leaders should put the interests of the country and its people above all. " It is scheduled the new House of Representatives will begin its first session on Tuesday. / End
