Mild earthquake, again, strikes Thai North

LAMPANG, THAILAND, June 1 (TNA) - A magnitude 3.1 earthquake jolted Thailand’s upper northern region early Saturday morning, but there were no reports of casualties or damage. According to the Office of Mineral Resources Office, Region 1, in Lampang province, the mild quake occurred at 5:35am with its epicenter located in a forest area in Sung Men district of Phrae province. The office said that the minor quake was caused by the movement of the Mae Yom fault line, which lies across the province. People in Mae Yun Village, the closest residential area from the epicenter, did not reportedly feel the tremor when the quake occurred. The village is located in nearby Den Chai district, but officials were dispatched to inspect the scene and its impacts.
