Mild earthquake hits Chiang Rai

CHIANG RAI, Oct 4 (TNA) - A mild earthquake shook Thailand’s northernmost province of Chiang Rai late Friday, officials said. No casualties were reported for the time being. The Meteorological Department reported that the 3.3 –magnitude quake at a depth of 3 kilometres occurred at 10.28 p.m. The epicenter was in Mae Fah Luang district. Officials said the quake was felt in three districts including Mae Sai, Mae Chan and Mae Fah Luang as well as in Myanmar’s Tha Khi Lek district opposite Mae Sai. Mae Fah Luang chief district ordered local authorities to conduct survey on possible damage in three sub-districts. People living in Mae Fah Luang district and nearby areas have been asked to stay alert for a possible major quake. (TNA)
