Mild quake jolts Myanmar; Thailand not affected

BANGKOK, March 12 (TNA) - A mild earthquake measuring 3.8 on the Richter scale jolted neighbouring Myanmar this morning, but it had no impact on the life or property of people in the Thai side. According to Thailand’s National Disaster Warning Centre (NDWC), the quake occurred at 9:02am, Thailand's time, with its epicentre located at a ground surface some 88 kilometres northwest of Wiang Haeng district in Chiang Mai province in the Thai North. The NDWC acknowledged that the tremor in the Myanmar side did not cause any casualty or damage to property in Thailand. Earlier, Thailand's Meteorological Department reported that a minor earthquake measuring 2.9 on the Richter scale slightly shook Song district of Phrae province, also in the Thai North, at about 9:14am on Monday, but there were also no reports of any casualty or damage.
