Militarization of space, Syrian crisis to top agenda of Moscow security conference

MOSCOW, March 21. /TASS/. Militarization of space, hybrid warfare, "color revolutions", cyber threats and challenges in the Arctic region will be discussed during the 8th Moscow International Security Conference scheduled for April 23-25, Russian Deputy Defense Minister, Colonel General Alexander Fomin, said on Thursday. "The plenary session titled ‘Security in the Modern World: Regional and Global Factors and Trends' will be dedicated to global security issues. It is planned to discuss issues that affect all countries to a varying degree, specifically, international terrorism, maritime security, the militarization of space, hybrid warfare and ‘color revolutions,’ cyber threats and challenges in the Arctic," he said at a briefing for foreign military attaches. According to Fomin, Chief of Russia’s General Staff, General of the Army Valery Gerasimov, will address the meeting. He noted that the participants in a special session titled "Color Revolutions and Hybrid Warfare" would discuss in detail the use of new technologies to destabilize the situation in various countries and methods of "color revolutions" and hybrid warfare. "One of the plenary sessions will be dedicated to the Middle East issue, the aftermath of vanquishing ISIL (former name of the Islamic State terror group, outlawed in Russia - TASS) in Syria, the political settlement and post-conflict reconstruction in the country.
