Mining Minister at PDAC 2015 Convention

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Minister of Mining of Mongolia R.Jigjid is participating in the PDAC 2015 Convention that is taking place in Toronto of Canada. This year’s Convention has brought together 25 thousand delegates of 103 countries to have them discuss issues of a development of the mining sector, technical and technological progress and investment for mining. Mongolia has regularly taken part in the PDAC Convention in the last years. Mr Jigjid held meetings with Mr Joe Oliver, Canada’s Minister of Finance; Ms Kelly Block, the Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Natural Resources of Canada; Mr Rod Thomas, the PDAC president; Mr Geoff Hogan, a member of the House of Commons of Canada; and Mr Ignacio Morenos, the Chile’s Vice Minister of Mining. The sides exchanged views on the bilateral relations and cooperation in the mining and investments fields. Ms Kelly Block and Jigjid discussed the cooperation in the mining sector. The Minister said the government of Mongolia is taking measures for making its mining legal environment more sustainable and understandable, for fortifying a competitiveness, for developing the responsible mining, and for boosting a long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation with foreign investors. Ms Block said she is satisfied with the bilateral cooperation in the mining industry, and said Canada will support the mining sector of Mongolia. The they signed a cooperation document between Mongolia’s Ministry of Mining and Canada’s Ministry of Mineral Resources.
