MINING MINISTER VISITS MINES IN DORNOD

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Minister of Mining R.Jigjid along with some officials from the Mineral Resources Authority worked in Dornod aimag this June 19-21 to get au fait with the activities of coal, uranium and mixed metal mines, reports the Ministry. They have visited "Aduun Chuluun" coal mine, operated by "Aduun Chuluun" Co.Ltd., also Mongolyn Alt Corporation’s (MAK) coal mine, and an underground mixed-metal mine with Chinese investment. They also have attended a celebration of the 60th anniversary of the "Aduun Chuluun" Co.Ltd., which has been successfully fulfilling its duty to provide the eastern region with coal for energy. This mine has also become a model base for open pit coal mines in Mongolia. As for the MAK coal mine, the company authorities said they are preparing for building a brown coal deep-processing plant and a power station. The Minister has also legged the "Dornod" uranium mine in Dashbalbar soum, and the "Mardai" settlement and “Mardai” and “Nemer” uranium deposits, owned by “Adams Mining” LLC. At the "Ulaan" mixed-metal mine, the delegates have got au fait with the underground mine, concentrate plant operations and waste-heaps construction. The Minister has recommended the Chinese company complete a construction with high quality and transfer the completed works to the State Commission, pay special attention to occupational safety and health, hire more Mongolian workers, particularly engineers, protect the environment, and contribute to the locality’s development.
