Minister: 300,000 more foreign nationals to attend schools in Iran

Tehran, IRNA – Minister of Education announced on Monday that 300,000 more foreign nationals are to be added to the previous 560,000 in the new school year in Iran that will start on September 23. Yousef Nouri made the remarks at the 36th meeting of managers and officials of the county's education. Nouri noted that the previous number of foreign nationals studying at Iranian schools was 560,000. Iran’s new school year will start with participation of 16 millions of students this year, the minister said. According to the Iranian officials, the Islamic Republic has hosted Afghan refugees during the past four decades and provided them with social, educational, and health services. Reports from late 2021 show that Iran hosted the biggest number of refugees across the world. About 1.5 million Afghan refugees were living in Iran illegally while 800,000 had ID cards and 400,000 had passports.
