Minister of Culture Opens Art Exhibition

Doha, March 16 (QNA) - HE the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr. Hamad Abdulaziz Al Kuwari opened here at Katara an exhibition of paintings by Qatari artist Mohammed Al Jaidah, organized by the Qatar Fine Arts Society. The exhibition showcases 30 large sized realism art style paintings. The themes of the exhibits are environment, oceans, life stories of fishermen, nomadic life and travel as well as some aspects of social life such as cavalry, camels, falconry, heritage and history. Commenting on the exhibition, Qatar Fine Arts Society Board Chairman Yousuf Al Sada said, "Al Jaidah's depiction of the genuine reality of the Qatari traditions, customs and heritage is based on his profound commitment and his genuine sense, explaining that realistic works require a genuine documentation and correlation of his topics to the reality on the other. He believes in the philosophy of transparency that reflects reality of life without falsehood, he said adding that most of Jaidah's work reflects the nature's beauty and unique local traditions in a beautiful impressive style." For his part, artist Mohamed Al Jaidah said in this exhibition, his eighth, he inspired the Qatari history in his work through the presentation of invasions and historical battles with part of the imagination, stressing that he has also passion for depicting social aspects in Qatar and the Gulf in general because they are almost one, popular markets, fishing, the sea and the desert detail which he depicted in his paintings that embody these aspects of heritage ''so as not to lose our memories and our future generations, through a realistic and documentary style." Artist Mohammed Al Jaidah, who was born in Doha in 1957, holds a BA degree in history and education from Qatar University, and worked for Qatar Museums Authority. He was given awards and certificates of merit and has collections in several countries and local institutions. His first exhibition was organized at Al Jasra Cultural and Social Club. He participated in the Qatari Art Exhibition in Tunisia in 1979, an exhibition in Bremen, Germany, all the exhibitions of Qatar Fine Arts Society exhibitions and held seven personal exhibitions.(QNA)
