Minister of Higher Education discusses with the British Embassy increasing the number of Iraqi students studying in London

BAGHDAD / NINA / Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Ali al-Adeeb discussed with a delegation from the British Embassy steps to open the British cultural center in the capital Baghdad and accelerate the process of accepting Iraqi students in British universities, and encourage specialized Iraqi and British universities and research centers to expand its cooperation to exchange experiences. Adeeb said, during his meeting with the Deputy British Ambassador, Mark Richardson and Jim Sccart, Director of the British Council, according to a ministry statement today that "Iraq is looking forward to closer educational relations with the United Kingdom , and increase the level of cooperation with regard to activate twinning memorandums between Iraqi universities and the British , as well as increasing the number of students studying in British universities although it is the highest number among the rest of the European countries," adding that" there are more than 1,800 Iraqi students are now studying in British universities, in addition to students studying at their own expense . " He added: "It is important to accelerate the work on the British cultural center in the capital Baghdad," noting that "the ministry has a full readiness to embrace this center within Baghdad University complex and provide all kinds of necessary logistical support for the success of the project." He continued: "The high abilities possessed by British research centers encouraged Iraq to increase cooperation between the Iraqi research centers and its British counterpart, looking forward that memorandums of understanding between Iraqi and British research centers will add an educational dimensions raise the level of education in Iraq, especially after the developments in the higher education sector in Iraq during the past years.
