Minister opens 28th Education Conference/Exhibition

Manama, Oct. 4 (BNA): Education Minister Majid bin Ali Al-Nu'aimi inaugurated the 28th Education Conference/Exhibition at Isa Cultural Centre themed "Digital Empowerment in Education" on October 4-5. The event was attended by Arab Education Office for Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region's general director Ali Abdul Khaliq Al-Qarni, the Ministry's Undersecretary for Education and Curriculum Affairs Dr. Abdullah Yousef Al Muttawa', several officials and 400 experts, school principals, teaching staff and specialists. The minister delivered an inaugural speech in which he said the conference comes in compliance with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to achieve maximum benefit from digital technologies in teaching/learning processes, praising His Majesty's Educational Digital Empowerment Scheme in harmony with His Majesty's Future Schools Project to prepare students to keep abreast of developments and to confront the challenges and effectively contribute in building the knowledgeable society. The minister honoured the keynote speakers, teachers who completed highest number of digital-empowerment-in-education training from Microsoft Academy. Minister Dr. Al-Nu'aimi inaugurated the associated exhibition which showcases the products of several specialized information and communication technology firms in addition to displaying of excellent models of in-classroom teaching/learning practices and various subjects for various school stages. Dr. Al-Qarni of the director-general of the Arab Education Office for the GCC region told Bahrain News Agency "BNA" that the Kingdom of Bahrain is the first Gulf country to apply digital empowerment in the region, praising the Kingdom's leading role in all fields, including education.
